FREQUENTLY ASKED PAWRENT QUESTIONS!

FAQS For Our New Pawrents!

**Our Dogs Are CKCSC-USA, AKC Registered**

**Our Protocol: The Puppy Adoption Process**

**We never sell puppies to individuals who work full-time out of the home, to brokers, auctions, or pet stores. We collaborate with you personally, a loving pet family, to assist you in making a quality and informed decision. Additionally, we do NOT ship our puppies.**

**Protocol:**

1. **Please complete the form to receive a Questionaire below only if:**

    * You wish to join our Preferred Waiting List.

    * $500 deposit required to be put on waiting list which will hold your place in line for the color of your choice

2. **After reviewing your Questionnaire, I will respond via email or text message.** If I believe you are a suitable candidate, I do not sell to everyone. This is a rare breed, and I only sell to qualified homes that I select.

**Important Note:** We do not allow in-home visits. I cannot control the health and well-being of the puppies if people are coming and going from my home. They are raised with our family in our home. I do not have a kennel or a separate area where my dogs and puppies are kept, as this would allow disease to spread. Therefore, there are no in-home visits. You will select your puppy from pictures and videos only.

———Please do not submit an application if this is a requirement for you.

3. **I will take pictures and videos of your puppy every 7 to 10 days as they change so that you can witness its growth.** A deposit is required to hold a puppy for you. The deposit can be made in cash, via Zelle, personal check, or through Good Dog.

4. **Breed Characteristics:** The breed is known for its lack of aggression, eliminating concerns about male or female behavior issues. Both sexes are affectionate, non-yappy, and highly intelligent. Neutering male puppies by six months of age is recommended to prevent them from lifting their legs on furniture or trees during walks, as they will adopt a squatting and urinating position similar to females, enhancing the enjoyment of ownership and walks. Additionally, spaying or neutering is a requirement by the contract.

5. **Deposit:** The deposit is non-refundable. Please ensure that you are satisfied with the puppy and litter before making the payment.

6. **Regular Updates:** We provide frequent updates, approximately every ten days, through pictures and videos, allowing you to monitor the puppy’s growth.

7. **Customer Support:** We are committed to ensuring a seamless adoption process. We recommend visiting dog-related websites to identify essential items for your puppy and plan your housing and potty training setup. I am available to educate and to assist you throughout the process.

8. **Puppy Pickup:** Upon the pups reaching nine to twelve weeks of age and your home being prepared, you will be able to collect your new companion. The final payment is due at the time of pickup, which can be made via Good Dog -Zelle or cash. It is mandatory to present the health record provided and the puppy to your veterinarian within 48 hours of purchase. This is so the state of Florida certificate of sale filled out by my vet and the puppy check from your vet both agree and concur so the Puppy, goes home with you with both vets. Agree here she is healthy

*****To ensure the puppy’s well-being, we recommend scheduling two vet visits: After the well puppy check approximately 2 to 3 weeks for second shot and again another three weeks after that for the third shot _This practice is mandated by Florida puppy sale law and is non-negotiable.

9. **Puppy Retention:** Puppies are not retained beyond the age of twelve weeks, depending on the litter’s maturity. This period is crucial for the puppies to bond with their new owners and establish their permanent homes. Please plan your vacations and work schedule accordingly to accommodate the puppy’s arrival during this critical stage. Boarding dogs or puppies is not permitted.

**10.** All our puppies are of exceptional quality and are sold as beloved pets. They are not suitable for breeding, raffles, auctions, or resale. Our Occasional Breeding is a full-time, labor-intensive, scientific, and costly endeavor. Professional breeders require extensive medical knowledge, time, financial resources, commitment, patience, and exceptional composure. All our efforts yield puppies of stellar quality, providing you with the assurance that your pet is healthy and well-socialized.

**11.** It is crucial to thoroughly explore the websites of the CKCS of America These websites offer valuable information on Cavaliers and provide a comprehensive understanding of the breed.

**12.** Numerous pet health insurance companies offer coverage. Your employer may also provide such insurance. Conduct thorough research and consult your veterinarian for recommendations. Health insurance is mandatory for the first year.

**13.** Even highly skilled veterinarians may not possess comprehensive knowledge of the unique hematology of the Cavalier breed.

I have attached a link to an essential article regarding Cavalier platelet counts. It is imperative that you read the article in detail and become familiar with its content. Kindly share this article with your veterinarian.

**14.** Cavaliers occasionally develop umbilical hernias during birth. This condition is not a health issue and is prevalent in Cavaliers. It refers to a small opening beneath the skin near the belly button area, resembling a small bubble. Most umbilical hernias naturally close as the puppy matures (reducible hernia). If the hernia persists at six months of age, your veterinarian will surgically repair it during the spay or neutering procedure. There are no adverse effects associated with this procedure.

**15.** It is crucial to select a reputable veterinarian who has experience treating Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Regular yearly check-ups and vaccinations are essential for your puppy’s health. You should feel comfortable asking any questions and receiving satisfactory answers from your veterinarian. It is important to note that like any healthcare professional, there are skilled and less experienced veterinarians, as well as those who charge exorbitant fees and those who offer reasonable services.

When it is time to spay or neuter your dog at six months of age, obtain estimates of the total cost from several veterinarians and your local animal shelter or humane society.

**16.** The importance of dog health testing, proper breeding protocols, and providing our dogs with loving homes and socialization from birth cannot be overstated. We are constantly battling against various challenges to prevent the suffering of dogs in puppy mills. To gain insight into the conditions in which “pet store” dogs are raised, visit http://stoppuppymills.org/ or humanesociety.org/puppymill. Approximately 50% of all puppy mill dogs never even reach pet stores and unfortunately succumb to disease, neglect, or congenital abnormalities.
